-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is along the middle of the firewall.  The colored dots are on the following connectors: yellow = detonation sensor; blue = driver side VTC (variable timing cam) solenoid; red = driver side oxygen sensor.

The shiny red cable running between the VTC and oxygen sensor connectors is not stock.  That is one of the 4-gauge cables from my earthing kit.

What is the point?  The above connectors with the BLUE and YELLOW dots will fit each other, and are sometimes switched in error by mechanics who do not know these cars well.  This will not damage the car but the car will not run right.  The ECU will throw a code 34 for the detonation sensor and the extra horsepower from the VTC will be lost.

On the engine harness side of the connectors, the wires leading to the detonation sensor are grey and white.  The wires leading to the VTC has green/black and red/black.

The yellow arrow points to the passenger side oxygen sensor connector.  An enlarged picture  can be seen here

The yellow circle is the connector to the passenger side VTC solenoid.  The blue square is on the black plastic harness cover.

I easily removed the black plastic harness cover and replaced it with split red loom.  I liked the simpler look and the black plastic was cracked and brittle.

Notice the telltale white sheathed wire that leads to the VTC connector on both the passenger and driver side.  This white sheath differentiates the driver side VTC connector from the detonation sensor connector.
